If using in a 386 or up, your System BIOS has the option, and you have everything configured how you want it, you should enable ROM Shadowing at the addresses of the ROM Sockets in use, to improve performance. You may need to disable this function if you want to reprogram the chip from DOS.

I recently installed one of these into a 386 I refurbished and it worked perfectly. The BIOS in the 386 would not support any hard drive above 257MB (only option was to pick a "type" from a selection of about 40). With this little ISA card I was able to install a 4GB CF card connected to an IDE to CF adapter with no issues. I simply set the hard drives in the BIOS to none and this little card did the rest.
